Mercury waive seven players from 2024 WNBA roster
Phoenix waived seven players ahead of Monday's deadline for WNBA teams to finalize their 12-player roster.
The Phoenix Mercury ahead of Monday’s deadline for teams to finalize their 12-player rosters waived each of their 2024 draft picks, Jaz Shelley and Charisma Osborne.
Shelley, who played college basketball at Nebraska, was the No. 29 pick in the third round. Osborne, who was viewed as a steal with the No. 25 pick, was also waived due to the Mercury’s depth at her spot.
Phoenix also announced officially it waived guards Amy Atwell, Air Hearn and Christyn Williams, center Bella Murekatete and forward Mya Hollingshed. The Mercury’s active roster can be seen here.
The Mercury play their first game of the regular season Tuesday against the two-time WNBA defending champions, the Las Vegas Aces. The game tips off at 7 p.m. PT and is televised by ESPN2.
